If you think you may have missed all the fun and shenanigans of EJC, then think again. We're back, this time it's a flow feast of yumminess, we have Jo Mondy from Live Love Hoop, Thom Thumb & Alien Jon (Flow Temple LA & Playpoi) & Alien Jon bringing you an entire weekend of flow workshops. You shall cross pollinate, you will have loads of fun. You can hone your flow!

This extravaganza of weekend workshops will be held on August 13-14, 2011. Held in Colchester Wado Ryu Dojo in the historical town of Colchester, Essex in good old Blighty. We will provide refreshments and lunch during the workshops, and Saturday evening a little soiree of food, play & fun.

The weekend will comprise of a minimum of 8 x 1.5hr intensive movement and flow workshops which shall include:

• Poi of all sorts including partner poi & poi passing

• Buugeng

• Flower Stix

• Sphere Play (Contact Juggling)

• Flow Wand

• Staff

Teacher Bio's

Jon (Alien Jon)

Alien Jon is known around the world as a playful yet thorough teacher. Equal parts artist and "movement scientist", he loves innovative ideas and the creative spark in his students, himself, and his performance.

Jon got his start spinning things in early childhood, starting with himself, and then expanding to external objects found around the house and in the woods of Maine.

In 1995 he made the life-changing decision to picked up his first pair of flower-sticks (juggling sticks), and thus he officially entered the world of object manipulation. Then in 1999, founded on his love of flower-sticks, he discovered glow-sticking and poi spinning at electronic music events in Colorado.

Drawing inspiration from T'ai Ji and Aikido, other object manipulation quickly followed including contact staff & double staff, contact juggling, and diabolo, making Alien Jon an early adopter of multi-prop cross-pollination. These skills have been melded with a love of music
and dance, including liquid, illusional, and funk styles.

During this diverse exploration of the Kinetic Flow Arts, poi established it's place as a favorite in Jon's heart. Now he teaches poi classes, workshops, and retreats all over the world.

(Major) Thom Thumb

Major Thom Thumb has performed and taught at a multiple of festivals and events around the USA, including performing with Sphongle. He is a former member of the ExtraTerrestrial Circus Experiment and a member of the performance duo Almost Awesome.

Thom recently landed a role as a clown in the motion picture Water For Elephants. For the past year he has been teaching a variety of props in conjunction with flow arts at Flow Temple in Los Angeles. His playshops usually focus on play as a joyful meditation and are inspiring and often delightfully silly.

Jo Mondy

Jo Mondy the founder of Live Love Hoop and also a dance performer and teacher based in Brighton, UK. Originally from Australia she was trained in a hybrid-hoop style – which combines the traditional Russian and Chinese circus hula with the fluid hoop dance of the US – she now spreads the hoop love as a certified Hoop Empire teacher.

Jo has performed all over the world at festivals, clubs and private parties in Australia, the US, and Europe. Donning spectacular costumes Jo wows crowds with LED and fire hoop performances.
